Motorcycle Studio Shoot
by Matt on Dec.12, 2008, under Fine Art / Stock
Hyper-realism using studio still composited over digital background:
This shot was pulled off in-studio using a Ducati GT1000 stationary on a rear stand. The subject was shot against a white back-lit scrim, then composited into existing ground and sky stock. I lit it using a single B800 fired at the camera from behind the scrim, B800 wide open with a blue gel fired from camera right, SB-800 with a blue gel fired off a gray umbrella from camera left, and a Promaster 5500 wide open with a blue gel fired from below the subject, left of centerline.

Conga Session
by Matt on Dec.02, 2008, under Fine Art / Stock
I had a thought that illuminating a drummer by firing a speedlight through the head of the drum would have a cool effect. So, I grabbed my Gon Bops quinto and fired away…
Here are the results:
Strobist info:
SB-800 fired from inside the conga. Alien Bees B800 with 30-degree honeycomb fired from above the backdrop. B800 with barn doors fired from the floor in front of the conga. Positions of the lights varied from setup to setup, but all fired except on one shot where only the SB-800 was fired.
